The current Chief Justice of India will retire on the October 3rd and the post will go to the newly appointed CGI, Ranjan Gogoi.
Justis Ranjan Gogoi is the new Chief Justice of India, appointed by the president of the country. The new CGI will take the oath as the Chief Justice of India, on October 3. Along with this, the current CGI is to retire on the same.

The PIB, Press Information Bureau has released a weet via its social media handle and that gives assurance for the same. Press Information Bureau which is a nodal agency which acts as a mediator between media and Government of India.
The President of India has appointed Justice Ranjan Gogoi as the next #ChiefJusticeofIndia. He will assume the office of Chief Justice on 3rd October, 2018 after the retirement of the current Chief Justice, Justice Dipak Misra.

According to the sources, the current Cheif Justice of India, Justice Deepak Mishra has referred for the name of Justice Ranjan Gogoi. And by the PIB it comes official confirmation.
